Foundations of Leadership: Leading the Way by Example
Develop the essential skills to communicate effectively, make data-driven decisions, and apply organisational policies strategically to drive team performance. This course is ideal for aspiring managers, team leaders, supervisors, and professionals preparing to step into formal leadership roles.

Course Overview
Foundations of Leadership: Leading the Way by Example equips learners with the practical competencies and structured frameworks needed to evolve from high-performing individual contributors into trusted, effective leaders. True leadership extends beyond authority—it requires the ability to inspire action, communicate with integrity, guide decisions using objective data, and align team performance with organisational strategy.
This three-day course integrates proven communication frameworks and data-informed decision-making techniques. Learners will apply the GIVE Methodology for clear communication and feedback, use the Value Meter to overcome barriers, evaluate performance and risks using Ability × Effort = Results, and maintain engagement through the 5 Elements of Leadership. The course also introduces the ALIGN Framework to interpret, communicate, and implement organisational strategies, policies, and SOPs effectively.
Designed for both first-time leaders and those seeking to strengthen foundational leadership skills, this course provides actionable frameworks, structured practice, and practical frameworks to help participants lead with clarity, confidence, and measurable impact.
Course Highlights
- Master the GIVE Methodology (Genuine, Introduction, Value Meter, Envision the Future) to ensure effective and impactful communication and feedback delivery.
- Apply the Value Meter to address communication barriers by recognising differences in how individuals perceive value and using action-threshold awareness to increase buy-in, reduce resistance, and support agreement.
- Apply the 5 Elements of Leadership (Authority, Relationship, Activity, Productivity, and Cultural influence) to maintain communication, reinforce engagement, and strengthen alignment within the team.
- Use the A×E = R formula to evaluate performance, assess risks, compare options, and make decisions based on objective data rather than assumptions.
- Apply the ALIGN Framework to Organisational Strategies, Policies, and SOPs by learning to Articulate Objectives, Link to Team Goals, Interpret Key Procedures, Guide Team Members, and Navigate Challenges to ensure consistent execution.
